Aston Villa will reportedly stand by manager Paul Lambert for the rest of the season, despite crashing out of the League Cup to Bradford City.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is reportedly not in danger of losing his job at the Midlands club this season.

The Scotsman has been under pressure since relinquishing a spot in the League Cup final to League Two side Bradford City, who secured a 4-3 aggregate victory over the Villans on Tuesday.

According to The Express, despite club owner Randy Lerner and chief executive Paul Faulkner's meeting to consider the future of Lambert, they phoned the former Norwich City boss from the US to ensure that his job is safe.

As well as being out of the League Cup, Villa are struggling in the Premier League and are in danger of relegation as they currently sit one point clear of the bottom three in the table.
