Theo Walcott signs new four-year Arsenal contract

Arsenal's longest-serving current player Theo Walcott signs a new four-year contract, reportedly worth £140,000 a week.

Arsenal's longest-serving current player Theo Walcott has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract at the Emirates.

Over the last few months, the 26-year-old and manager Arsene Wenger were open about their desire to agree a new deal, but talks were delayed, which led to speculation over the attacker's future.

However, rumours can now be put to bed as Walcott, who joined the North London outfit from Southampton in 2006, has agreed a new deal worth £140,000 a week, according to BBC Sport.

After the news was announced, the England international took to Twitter to express his joy at extending his stay at the club, which feels like "home".

Via Arsenal's official website, Wenger described Walcott as "hugely important and influential", and believes that tying down the Englishman, as well as Santi Cazorla - who has also signed a contract extension - provides "further stability of quality" within the squad.

Walcott, who made his 300th appearance for Arsenal last season, has scored 76 goals since his arrival nine years ago.
