Santi Cazorla prefers central role at Arsenal

Santi Cazorla admits that he would prefer to play centrally in the Gunners' formation rather than out wide.

Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla has admitted that he would rather play centrally than out wide.

The Spaniard has been used in a wide left position at times this season by Arsene Wenger as the Frenchman has tried to accommodate a number of playmakers into his formation at the Emirates.

However, former Villarreal man Cazorla has said that he would prefer to play as a number 10 behind a striker, after being deployed in his favoured position over the past few weeks.

"I have more space [in the middle], more possibilities to score and assist, and I like this position very much," he told the club's official website. "I always can help the team and I love when I play in the middle.

"I want to continue to play at this level for the rest of the season. I always want to help the team with goals. I hope to score more until the end of the season. It's very important for me and the team."

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League.
