Planned tube strikes result in the Boxing Day encounter between London rivals Arsenal and West Ham United being thrown into doubt.

Arsenal's Boxing Day encounter with West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium could be postponed.

The fixture is in doubt because drivers on the London Underground have planned to strike on that day, leaving a large number of supporters unable to get to the match.

"Arsenal are currently in discussions with the Premier League, West Ham United, police and relevant authorities over the possible postponement of the Boxing Day fixture at Emirates Stadium," read a statement on Arsenal's official website.

"The match is in doubt due to the difficulties of getting 60,000 supporters, plus matchday staff and employees to the stadium safely in the advent of disruption to public transport on a public holiday. The club will make a further announcement as soon as a final decision is made."

A decision is expected to be made before the end of the week.
