Wolverhampton Wanderers may reportedly be prepared to facilitate the loan exits of at least two defenders before the end of the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly open to loaning out at least two defenders before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Premier League outfit began the off-season by making three high-profile additions before raising in the region of £90m through the sales of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto.

As a result, supporters expected somewhat of a splurge on fresh talent courtesy of their new favourable position with the division's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, it was claimed on Monday that Fosun International are currently only prepared to hand Gary O'Neil a budget of £20m to further add to this ranks.

A new centre-back is believed to be a priority, the same report indicating that an approach would be made for Burnley's Dara O'Shea.

In order to facilitate that potential addition, it appears that Fosun and O'Neil are prepared to allow two players to leave the club on a temporary basis.

Wolves to consider Bueno loan

According to the Express and Star, Wolves are open to the possibility of allowing Santiago Bueno to earn regular football elsewhere.

Since leaving Girona for Molineux 12 months ago, Bueno has been provided with just nine starts and three substitute outings in the Premier League.

A further five starts came in other competitions during 2023-24, yet he remains as a backup option courtesy of Yerson Mosquera's return from a loan stint at Villarreal.

If O'Shea arrives from Burnley, the Uruguay international faces the prospect of being at least fourth choice in the pecking order alongside Craig Dawson, with O'Shea likely to compete with Mosquera and Toti Gomes for a starting spot.

Hoever to follow suit

O'Neil has also seemingly decided that Ki-Jana Hoever has no future at Wolves despite his productive 18 months on loan at Stoke City where he contributed eight goals and six assists from 61 appearances, largely as a full-back or wing-back.

As per L'Equipe, Auxerre are closing in on a loan deal of some length for the 22-year-old.

Auxerre are back competing in Ligue 1 and started the new campaign with a 2-1 victory over Nice on Sunday.

Although two years remain on Hoever's contract, there is the potential for an option to buy being included in any deal.
