David Gold: 'West Ham United close to appointing new manager'

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold claims on his Twitter page that the club are close to appointing a new manager following Sam Allardyce's departure.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has claimed that the club are close to appointing a new manager.

The Hammers parted company with Sam Allardyce last month following a disappointing second half to the campaign.

Gold, 78, posted on Twitter that talks on appointing a new manager at Upton Park are "progressing well" and they are "close to an appointment".


Marcelo Bielsa and Slaven Bilic are among the frontrunners to take over as West Ham aim to improve on their 12th-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
