Leicester City round out season with emphatic win

Leicester City thrash Queens Park Rangers 5-1 on the final day of the season to condemn the Hoops to bottom spot in the Premier League table.

Queens Park Rangers have finished bottom of the Premier League table after a final-day 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Leicester City.

The hosts got off to a fast start as Leonardo Ulloa and Jamie Vardy went close to scoring in the opening five minutes, while the visitors struggled to match their intensity.

Vardy only had to wait until the 16th minute to break the deadlock as he capitalised on an error from Rangers keeper Alex McCarthy to smash the ball in from close range.

The Foxes dominated most of the half, as Ulloa and Vardy missed further chances before Marc Albrighton doubled their lead.

Jeffrey Schlupp's cross fell to the winger on the edge of the box, and he lashed it into the back of the net.

QPR started the second half brightly and should have pulled one back, but Reece Grego-Cox dragged an effort wide.

They were made to pay for that miss as Ulloa added a third by chesting in Wes Morgan's shot, before Esteban Cambiasso whipped a low drive into the far corner from the edge of the box.

QPR responded immediately as Joey Barton's cross was neatly glanced into the net by Charlie Austin.

Leicester continued to surge forward in search of further goals, and Robert Huth went close with a header and Cambiasso flicked an effort just wide.

They added a fifth late on, as substitute Andrej Kramaric drilled Ulloa's flick into the bottom corner.
