Benitez insists Almiron will need time to adapt to physicality of Premier League

The Paraguay international is confident his price-tag will not be an issue.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has warned record signing Miguel Almiron he will have to deal with the physicality of the Premier League if he is to make his name in England.

The 24-year-old Paraguay international could make his debut for the Magpies at Wolves on Monday night after starring for Atlanta United in the MLS.

However, Benitez knows Almiron will never have experienced anything quite like the ferocity of English football and has urged people to give him time to adapt.

The Spaniard said: "He is fine, his training has been good. He is fit and is a player with good stamina and pace. He is mobile and quite dynamic.

"The question now is what will happen with the physicality of the Premier League – that is the main difference between the Premier League and the MLS.

"To come to another league is quite difficult. They need time to adapt."

Almiron was formally unveiled to the media on Thursday afternoon and insisted his price-tag would not weigh him down, and Benitez is confident that will not be an issue.

He said: "Any player cannot think too much about the price, they have to think about what they can do on the pitch. I think he has the right mentality with that."

Benitez and his players will head off to a warm-weather training camp in Spain immediately after the game at Molineux and will play a friendly against CSKA Moscow while they are there in preparation for key home matches against Huddersfield and Burnley.

They had a similar trip last season and put together a run of three successive wins on their return, and the manager is hoping for a similar boost this time around.

He said: "We won't be going there on holiday, it will be double training sessions and a chance for people to get to know each other really well.

"The game will give the players a chance to see how the hard work translates to a game. I think it will be a positive experience."
