NAC Breda and SBV Excelsior have played out a 1-1 draw at the Rat Verlegh Stadion in their first Eredivisie match of the season.
The visitors were awarded a penalty in the 19th minute when Tom van Weert was fouled by Kenny van der Weg inside the box. Jeff Stans took the resulting spot kick and slotted his effort past Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
Breda levelled the scores just a minute later as Adnane Tighadouini volleyed in from range following a poor clearance from the keeper.
Tighadouini came close again soon after, but he could only fire his effort against the post.
In the second half it was Breda who hit the woodwork, as Erik Falkenburg saw his attempt from close-range come back off the post.
It proved to be the closest that either side would come to finding a winner, as both teams ended up settling for a point.
