Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim makes a surprise admission about the job that David Moyes is doing at Everton ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that David Moyes is doing a better job at Everton than he currently is at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are preparing to play at Goodison Park for the final time, with Man United set to face Everton in Saturday's lunchtime kickoff.

Man United will be desperate to return to winning ways after losing their last two Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.

Overall, Amorim has overseen four wins, two draws and eight defeats in 14 Premier League games since he took over the reins in November.

As a result of that poor record, the Red Devils are currently languishing in 15th place in the Premier League table, one point behind Everton in 14th position.

Amorim makes shocking Moyes admission

In contrast to Amorim, Moyes has made an impressive start to his second spell as Everton manager, having overseen four wins, one draw and one defeat in six league games since he returned to the Toffees dugout.

Ahead of Saturday's contest, Amorim admitted that the former Man United boss was doing a better job than him when asked why Everton have enjoyed a new manager bounce and his team have not.

"David Moyes is doing a better job than me, it's quite simple," Amorim told reporters in Friday's pre-match press conference.

"We have to give merit to the players of Everton and especially to the coach of Everton, and we need to do the same. It's an amazing job by David Moyes to recover the team. You feel the confidence and belief are there.

Honest Amorim makes another confession

Amorim initially wanted to delay his appointment as Man United boss until the end of the season, before he agreed to accept the role as Erik ten Hag's replacement in November.

The Portuguese boss still believes his job would have been a little easier if he had taken over ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

"I think that's clear, it's common sense," Amorim said. "When you start a season, it's completely different. You feel things, have a pre-season and time to change things you feel are necessary in a team and a squad. That is clear."

Amorim believes that his players are "improving" and "creating relationships" on the training pitch even if recent results suggest otherwise.

Man United are looking to continue their impressive record against the Toffees after winning each of the last six competitive matches between the two sides.
