Manchester United agree £70m-a-year shirt deal?

Manchester United are close to agreeing a £70m-per-year shirt deal with an American software company to replace Chevrolet, according to a report.

Manchester United are allegedly close to securing a new £70m-per-year shirt deal as their partnership with Chevrolet nears an end.

The American car company announced their deal with the Red Devils back in 2012, and they have sponsored United's famed shirts since the 2014-15 season.

The agreement is believed to be worth a whopping £64m a year, and while United's seven-year deal with Chevrolet was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, they extended it by six months due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, The Sun now reports that the 20-time English champions are nearing an agreement with a new backer for a £70m-a-year partnership, and the mystery frontrunners are believed to be an American software company.

The report adds that nothing is done and dusted just yet as talks are ongoing between the parties, but the potential new deal plus United's strong standing in the league table means that the financial outlook heading into next season is a lot more positive.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side ended Manchester City's 21-game winning run with a 2-0 triumph at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, although they still sit 11 points behind their bitter rivals in the table.
