Manchester United's Ander Herrera reveals Juan Mata, David de Gea influence

Ander Herrera reveals that his Spain teammates Juan Mata and David de Gea convinced him to join Manchester United.

New Manchester United signing Ander Herrera has revealed that his fellow Spanish countrymen Juan Mata and David de Gea convinced him to move to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old, who was heavily linked to the Red Devils last summer, signed a four-year deal with United yesterday after paying his own Athletic Bilbao buyout clause, which is said to have been around £30m.

"I know they are very happy," Herrera told MUTV. "I was talking to them and they told me that this is the biggest club in the world and that we have a very good squad. We are very good friends and I am sure that they will help me to adapt and get to know the club."

Meanwhile, widespread reports have claimed that United are closing in on a £30m move for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
