Manuel Pellegrini urges James Milner to sign new Manchester City deal

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says that James Milner "has to decide" whether or not he wants to commit to the Citizens beyond the current campaign.

Manuel Pellegrini has reiterated his desire to keep James Milner at Manchester City beyond the end of the current season.

The 29-year-old produced another impressive display in last night's 4-1 victory over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, scoring one and setting up another to prove his worth to the side.

Milner's contract is due to expire in the summer and no new deal has yet been agreed, although City's travelling support made their thoughts clear by chanting the Englishman's name.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Pellegrini said: "Milner scored a beautiful goal but for us the most important thing is the way he works for 90 minutes.

"When you have to sign a contract, you need both parts. Maybe it is not that easy but the most important thing is the club wants him to stay. Milner has to decide."

City remain seven points off leaders Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title.
