Kalvin Phillips 'offered' Man City exit route despite concern from manager

Fresh start? Phillips 'offered' chance to leave Man City

Italian giants Roma could reportedly offer Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips the chance to leave the Premier League this summer.

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has reportedly been offered to Italian side Roma despite Daniele De Rossi's doubts over his fitness.

Phillips's career has been in a state of decline since he completed a £42m move from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

The Englishman has been unable to force his way into Pep Guardiola's plans and has ultimately had to settle for 31 competitive appearances.

Phillips featured in just four top-flight matches in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign and was subsequently loaned out to West Ham United.

Instead of discovering his best form, Phillips experienced a difficult time with West Ham, starting just three of his 10 matches for the Hammers.

Roma linked with Phillips move

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Phillips's representatives have offered Roma the chance to sign the 28-year-old this summer.

The player's agents have also offered their client to other clubs as they look to find a new home for Phillips to revitalise his career.

Roma are expected to add to their current central-midfield options which include Bryan Cristante, Leandro Paredes, Edoardo Bove and Houssem Aouar.

De Rossi is said to be an admirer of Phillips, but he does have doubts over the player's fitness levels.

The Man City midfielder is seemingly aware of those concerns and is set to return to pre-season training early in a bid to prove his fitness to potential suitors.

What are Phillips's alternative options?

While he has emerged as a potential target for Roma, Phillips has also been linked with several other clubs as he looks to find a team that can offer him regular playing time.

Everton have allegedly made an enquiry over a potential move, with Sean Dyche's side scouring the market for midfield additions.

The Toffees are seemingly keeping their options open amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Belgium international Amadou Onana.

Last month, a report also claimed that Phillips was a potential target for sister clubs RB Leipzig of Germany and Austria's Red Bull Salzburg.
