Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly tells Reds chiefs to make a move for Porto midfielder Otavio as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Jurgen Klopp has reportedly told Liverpool chiefs to go all out in their efforts to sign Porto midfielder Otavio.

The 26-year-old made a positive impression with the Portuguese giants last term and finished the 2020-21 campaign with five goals and 12 assists from 42 appearances in all competitions.

Otavio penned a contract extension with Porto only three months ago, but that is not believed to have deterred Liverpool, who are aiming to fill the void left by Georginio Wijnaldum's departure.

According to A Bola, Liverpool have 'advanced forcefully' to prise the playmaker away from Porto, and Klopp has informed the powers-that-be of his desire to work with him.

Marko Grujic - who spent last season on loan at Porto from Liverpool - has been tipped to head the other way as part of a swap deal, but such a proposal is not expected to come to fruition.

Liverpool could supposedly land Otavio for £34m should they move before July 1, after which the Brazilian's buyout clause would rise to £51m.
