Brendan Rodgers cautious after Liverpool opener

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that the side will get better after his first game ends in a 1-1 draw with Toronto.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that the team has "a long way to go" after his first game in charge ended in a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC.

Adam Morgan pounced in the second half to earn a share of the spoils for the Reds in Canada following Quincy Amarikwa's opener.

"We've still got a long way to go," Rodgers told the club's official website. "It's very important that we dictate games, we control games, we dominate games. You saw for large parts of the game we forced Toronto back.

"It's just that penetration that will get better as time goes on, because possession is no good on its own.

"Some of the movement patterns were very good and it'll get better."

Liverpool continue their pre-season tour of North America on Wednesday when they face Roma in Boston.
