Hull City boss Steve Bruce delighted to be off to winning start

Hull City boss Steve Bruce admits that he was elated to begin life back in the Championship with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at the KC Stadium.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has revealed that he was delighted to begin the season with a victory as his side defeated Huddersfield Town at the KC Stadium.

Sam Clucas and Chuba Akpom scored on their debuts for the Tigers as they began life back in the Championship with a comfortable win over Chris Powell's men, although Bruce feels that there is plenty of room for improvement from his side.

He told the club's official website: "It's always nice to win but we can still improve, We got a bit sloppy in the second half but I was pleased with some of our play and it was good for two of our debutants to get off the mark.

"We scored the goals at the right time, especially the second one because Huddersfield were having a good ten-minute spell at that stage. It was a reminder of how difficult the Championship is, if we needed one, because they played with five at the back and a deep midfielder in front of them so it was difficult to break Huddersfield down.

"Thankfully that bit of quality we have has enabled us to produce a decent performance and got us the result."

Hull are next in action in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday when they travel to Accrington Stanley.
