Alan Pardew: 'Pape Souare has sustained broken thigh'

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew says that defender Pape Souare broke his thigh in a car accident last weekend.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has revealed that defender Pape Souare will miss the rest of 2016 with a broken thigh.

On Sunday, Souare was involved in a car accident on the M4 and the Eagles boss has confirmed that the 26-year-old will be missing for the foreseeable future as he recovers from an operation on the injury.

Pardew told reporters: "It was a broken thigh, there will be a rod through that bone. That should repair stronger. In four, five or six months - he should be up and running again."

The Senegalese full-back has made 55 appearances for Palace since moving to Selhurst Park in January 2015.
