Bournemouth complete Benik Afobe deal

Bournemouth complete the signing of striker Benik Afobe from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Bournemouth have completed the signing of striker Benik Afobe from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The 22-year-old underwent a medical with Eddie Howe's side on Sunday afternoon and has now put pen to paper on a long-term contract.

The England Under-21 international struck 10 times in 27 appearances for Wolves this season, but the Championship side were unable to keep the former Arsenal forward out of the clutches of the Premier League team.

"We are absolutely delighted to secure the signature of another undoubted talent in Benik Afobe," Cherries chief executive Neill Blake told the club's official website.

"It has been difficult to miss Benik's outstanding progress as a player, firstly with MK Dons and then Wolves, where he has been a consistent threat in front of goal. His pedigree as an Arsenal Academy product must also not be underestimated.

"Thank you to Jez Moxey and Wolverhampton Wanderers who have been a pleasure to deal with throughout negotiations. We look forward to seeing Benik in an AFC Bournemouth shirt soon."

Afobe, who has reportedly cost Bournemouth in the region of £10m, could make his debut in Tuesday's Premier League clash against West Ham United.
