Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Manchester City will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they head to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal.

The Premier League champions suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester United last weekend, meaning that they are 14 points behind division leaders Liverpool on the same number of matches.

The Citizens will enter this weekend's contest off the back of a win, though, having rounded off their Champions League group-stage campaign with an impressive 4-1 success away to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash.

Leroy Sane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Leroy Sane has been on the sidelines since injuring knee ligaments against Liverpool in the Community Shield towards the start of August. The Germany international is expected to return in early 2020, with the clash against Crystal Palace on January 18 a possibility for the attacker.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 8 (vs. West Ham United)

Key central defender Aymeric Laporte underwent surgery earlier this season after damaging knee cartilage. Like Sane, the Frenchman is expected to return to the field in the early stages of 2020, although he is slightly behind his teammate in terms of recovery.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: December 15 (vs. Arsenal)

Sergio Aguero has not been involved for Pep Guardiola's side since picking up a thigh injury against Chelsea at the end of November. There is a chance that the Argentine could be involved on Sunday afternoon, although City are not expected to make a call until the end of the week.

David Silva

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: December 15 (vs. Arsenal)

David Silva suffered "a huge kick in a dangerous part of his leg" during the clash with United last weekend. The Spaniard was not involved in the midweek Champions League clash but could return against Arsenal.

John Stones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

City's defensive problems continued when John Stones limped out of the defeat to United last weekend. The England international will be on the sidelines "for a few weeks", according to Guardiola.

Ederson

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: December 15 (vs. Arsenal)

Ederson was forced out of the squad for the clash with Dinamo Zagreb due to illness, but the Brazil international is being tipped to return in time for this weekend's contest.

City have no suspension concerns ahead of the Premier League clash.
