Half-Time Report: Derby County in control against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Derby County open up a 3-0 lead over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first half of their Championship clash at the iPro Stadium.

Derby County have headed into half time with a commanding 3-0 lead over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship this afternoon.

Ryan Shotton had a chance to open the scoring inside the first 10 minutes when he attempted to head in from an Omar Mascarell cross, but his finish was a fraction high.

The midfielder did find the target shortly after though, as he once again met a Mascarell ball into the box, flicking it towards goal, leaving Carl Ikeme to push it into the crossbar and into the back of the net.

Bakary Sako could have added an equaliser for the visitors just a few minutes later, but his curling effort was just high of the crossbar.

Steve McClaren's side doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark, with Jeff Hendrick winning the ball on the edge of the box before firing a low drive past the Wolves keeper.

Things got worse for Wolves just before the break as Johnny Russell added a third for the Rams, powering the ball into the bottom corner after the visitors failed to clear a Mascarell corner.
