Troy Hewitt targets long Walsall stay

Walsall striker Troy Hewitt insists that he wants to "build his career" at the League One club.

Walsall striker Troy Hewitt has insisted that he won't be quick to leave the club should he perform well in his debut season.

Hewitt has joined the Saddlers from Queens Park Rangers to replace the outgoing Febian Brandy.

The forward wants to have a similar impact as the former Manchester United player, but he insists that he wants to stay at the club for longer than 12 months.

The 23-year-old told the Express and Star: "Of course, Febian came in and did well.

"But I don't see this as a one-stop shop where I come in and move on straight away if things go well. I want to try and build myself a career here."

Hewitt failed to make a league appearance for QPR, but he has had loan spells at Dagenham & Redbridge, Bury and Colchester United.
