Goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell has signed a one-year contract at Walsall following a successful trial at the Banks's Stadium.
The 24-year-old, whose previous clubs include Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield, will now battle with Liam Roberts to become the Saddlers' first-choice stopper.
"Richard is a lad who has been with us for the last few weeks," manager Dean Smith told the club's official website. "He has impressed during that time and displayed an excellent attitude.
"I am pleased to have him on board; this is the chance for him to find his way back into regular first-team football."
O'Donnell could make his Walsall debut in Saturday's friendly against Leeds United.
