Danny Lennon praises St Mirren character

Danny Lennon lauds his St Mirren team for the "character" shown in Friday's 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle at the Firhill Stadium.

Danny Lennon has lauded his St Mirren team for the "character" shown in Friday's 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle at the Firhill Stadium.

Lennon's men had to come from a goal behind to earn the point, as Kenny McLean's first-half penalty cancelled out Kris Doolan's earlier header.

The visitors struck the post in the final 10 minutes of the encounter, and the Scot was more than impressed by his side's desire to snatch the victory.

"I've got to praise the character of the players for the last five to seven minutes of the second half when we showed the first glimpses of what we are capable of," he told reporters.

"We kept the pressure on and got a lot of quality balls into the box, which is where the penalty came from."

The Saints face Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Tuesday.
