Nicolas Spolli scores midway through the second half to earn a point for Catania against Sampdoria in Genoa.

Sampdoria and Catania have played out a 1-1 draw in Genoa in Serie A.

The hosts took control of the match after a quiet start, as Renan and Eder got chances to put them ahead.

The contest lulled again until the 32nd minute, when Sergio Almiron headed Giovanni Marchese's cross over the Samp crossbar.

Four minutes later the Genoese side broke the deadlock through Lorenzo de Silvestri, who headed home Renan's cross from the centre of the Catania box.

However, Sampdoria failed to hold on to their lead in the second half, as Nicolas Spolli earned a point for Catania in the 68th minute when he headed in from just yards out.
