Cristiano Ronaldo brace secures win for Real Madrid

Real Madrid maintain their 100% record in this season's Champions League with a 2-1 win over Juventus.

Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo were enough for Real Madrid to maintain their 100% record in this year's Champions League group stage, beating 10-man Juventus 2-1 this evening.

The home side took the lead less than five minutes into the match when Ronaldo tapped in from close range from an Angel di Maria delivery.

Carlos Tevez came close to levelling the scores, but it was Fernando Llorente who kept the Italian side in the game, pouncing on an Iker Casillas parry from a headed effort by Paul Pogba.

Real regained their advantage just six minutes later, when Sergio Ramos was brought down inside the penalty area, allowing Ronaldo to slot in his second from the spot.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men early in the second half when Giorgio Chiellini was dismissed for elbowing Ronaldo in the face.

After a strong spell by the home side, Karim Benzema came close to adding a third, after collecting the ball from Di Maria inside the box before slicing his finish just wide.

Di Maria looked to set up Ronaldo for his hat-trick late on, but the cross did not fall for the Portuguese international, who eventually managed to get it to Marcelo, but his effort goes well high.

Madrid's unbeaten start to the campaign leaves them at the top of their group.
