Rangers agree one-year contract extension with Kenny Miller

Veteran striker Kenny Miller signs a one-year contract extension with Rangers to remain at the club until summer 2017.

Kenny Miller has signed a one-year contract extension with Scottish Championship club Rangers.

The striker, 35, was due to be out of contract next summer, but will now remain with the Glaswegian club until the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Miller, who is currently out injured with a groin problem, is in his third spell with Rangers and has scored five goals in 13 appearances this season.

"It was unexpected to have the conversation so early in regards to staying for another year," he told the club website.

"It's great to get it done and dusted, and I'm back firmly focused on getting back fit, back playing.

"I'm very, very thankful that the manager (Mark Warburton) has seen enough in the first four or five months to offer me that extra year, and hopefully I can repay him with some good performances, a few more goals and hopefully a promotion to get us back to the top league next year."

Miller has also been doing some coaching work with the club's Under-20s this term.
