Manchester United are reportedly at the head of the queue for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
The 25-year-old has again been in impressive form for his Italian club during the 2021-22 campaign, making 20 appearances in all competitions, contributing five goals and three assists in the process.
Ruiz has entered the final 18 months of his contract in Naples, though, and there have been suggestions that the Spain international could be ready to seek pastures new.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to be long-term admirers of the midfielder, who arrived at Napoli from Real Betis in the summer of 2018.
However, according to La Repubblica, Man United are in 'pole position' to secure his signature, with the Red Devils also ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in the race.
The report claims that the 20-time English champions have identified Ruiz as a potential alternative to West Ham United's Declan Rice, who could be priced out of a switch at the end of the season.
Wolverhampton Wanderers's Ruben Neves and Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni are also among the midfielders to be linked with moves to Old Trafford over the last few weeks.
