Ashley Young hoping for Champions League bow

Ashley Young is hoping to make his Champions League when Manchester United welcome FC Basel to Old Trafford tomorrow night.

Ashley Young has set his sights on making his first ever appearance in the Champions League when Manchester United play host to FC Basel tomorrow evening.

The winger was rested by manager Sir Alex Ferguson when United opened up their European campaign away at Benfica two weeks ago.

However, the 26-year-old is eager to make an impression in the competition and hopes that his good start to the season will see him selected for the match at Old Trafford.

"Hopefully I’ll be selected and can play a part in the game and I’m looking forward to playing in the Champions League," Young told the club's official website.

"We know it is going to be a tough game, but I’m sure if we impose ourselves on the game as we have done in every other game this season we’ll get the three points."

Young has scored two goals for United since joining from Aston Villa in the summer.
