Mick McCarthy: 'Defeat has dented our confidence'

Ipswich Town boss admits that their defeat to Huddersfield Town has put his side under pressure in their next two games.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has told his team that they must win their next two home games, after their 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Goals from Nakhi Wells and James Vaughan gave the Yorkshire side a 2-0 half-time lead, before Luke Varney pulled one back after the break.

The defeat leaves Ipswich down in eighth place in the Championship table and three points outside of the playoff places.

McCarthy told BBC Sport: "We gave the first goal away and it seemed to dent the confidence of the whole team. Now we have to win our next two home games. If I was offered seven points from today and the two home games coming up, I would probably have taken it.

"Now we have to beat both Blackpool and Cardiff. That puts pressure on us but we have to deal with it."

Three of Ipswich's final five games are at home.
