Half-Time Report: Huddersfield Town lead Ipswich Town by two goals at break

Goals from Nahki Wells and James Vaughan leave Huddersfield Town 2-0 ahead at the interval of their Championship clash against Ipswich Town.

Huddersfield Town lead Ipswich Town 2-0 at the interval of their Championship clash this afternoon.

Ipswich had the game's first chance inside three minutes when Richard Chaplow delivered a cross towards Jay Tabb, who made contact at the far post, but Mark Hudson was on hand to clear off the line for the home team.

Huddersfield were down the other end moments later with Sean Scannell, but his effort was blocked by Tommy Smith during what was an end-to-end opening.

It was the home side that opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Nahki Wells took advantage of some poor defending from Zeki Fryers to curl one into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Smith then tested Alex Smithies with a powerful header, but Huddersfield continued to press and had a strong penalty appeal after 20 minutes when Fryers challenged Scannell inside the box, but the referee was not interested and waved play on.

Moments later, Bartosz Bialkowski was forced to deny James Vaughan from an overhead kick.

Ipswich's best chance arrived after 24 minutes when Daryl Murphy rounded Smithies before firing towards the bottom corner, but Hudson was on hand to clear off the line.

It was Huddersfield that scored the game's second goal, however, with Vaughan angling a header into the top corner following a cross from Jacob Butterfield.

The home side went searching for a third late in the half and came close through Oscar Gobern, but his curling effort just missed the crossbar as Scannell and Vaughan both turned on the style.
