Tottenham Hotspur reportedly reach a decision over the asking price of a defender who is wanted by three Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly changed their stance over the asking price of defender Joe Rodon.

The Wales international has just spent the season on loan at Leeds United, establishing himself as a regular starter at Elland Road.

However, with the Yorkshire giants having missed out on promotion to the Premier League through losing the Championship playoff final, there is less chance of a permanent move being completed.

That leaves the 26-year-old in a position where he will return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to await developments over his next move.

Even though Spurs took up the option of extending his contract by an extra 12 months, Rodon does not have any future under Ange Postecoglou and will be moved on during the summer transfer window.

Three clubs monitoring the situation

Football Insider claims that Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton all hold an interest in Rodon.

Each of those teams have just secured promotion from the second tier and are now contemplating how to strengthen their ranks ahead of the new campaign.

Despite his lack of experience in the Premier League, where he has featured on just 15 occasions, Rodon remains an attractive option for that trio.

Nevertheless, the report suggests they will have to agree to a deal in the region of £10m if they wish to get a transfer over the line.

Rodon has not been used in an English top-flight fixture since 2021-22, but he did spend a period on loan at Rennes during 2022-23, making 22 outings for the French club.

Will any club meet Spurs' valuation?

Spurs paid £11m for Rodon when they signed him in October 2020, the centre-back having not made a single top-flight outing at that time.

There is an argument that his career has not developed as anticipated, casting doubt as to whether it is realistic to request £10m.

On the flip side, Spurs will argue that Rodon, who stands at 6ft 4ins, will bring value to each of aforementioned three clubs, and may stick with their stance unless negotiations are prolonged towards the end of August.
