Roberto Mancini: 'Xherdan Shaqiri not leaving Inter Milan'

Roberto Mancini dismisses rumours that Xherdan Shaqiri is to leave Inter Milan at the end of the season.

Roberto Mancini has dismissed rumours that Xherdan Shaqiri is to leave Inter Milan at the end of the season.

The Swiss winger only joined the Nerazzurri from Bayern Munich on a four-and-a-half-year contract in January, but reports suggest that the lack of European football at the San Siro next season could steer the 23-year-old away.

However, Inter boss Mancini is denying the rumours and insists that Shaqiri has a future with the Serie A club.

"This Shaqiri thing is completely made up," he told reporters.

"We bought Shaqiri last January because we think that he can have a big future at Inter. Then, during the season, there might be a moment when a player's form drops and there are other players that in that moment are able to step in. So that's the only situation going on right now.

"Inter could be the right solution for him and we are happy about this. I am sure that Shaqiri next season will achieve great things."

The former Bayern man has recently insisted that he is happy at Inter and has not had any problems settling in.
