Tuesday's League One predictions including Birmingham City vs. Huddersfield Town

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Birmingham City vs. Huddersfield Town.

Barnsley vs. Wycombe (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

In an early-season clash between two promotion hopefuls, Barnsley are set to host Wycombe Wanderers at Oakwell on Tuesday in League One.

The home team are sixth with 14 points after eight games and occupy the division's fourth and final promotion playoff spot, while the away team are just one place behind with 13 points but have played a game fewer.

We say: Barnsley 0-2 Wycombe Wanderers

Given Wycombe's strong away form, it would not be surprising if they managed to claim all three points.

Considering Barnsley's poor record at home, it is difficult to see how the hosts can achieve victory on Tuesday.

Birmingham vs. Huddersfield (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

League-leaders Birmingham City are set to host Huddersfield Town on Tuesday at St Andrews in League One.

The home team are first with 19 points from their first seven matches of the 2024-25 campaign and will be hoping to return to the Championship at the first time of asking, while the visitors are 10th with 12 points and have lost their last three league games.

We say: Birmingham City 3-1 Huddersfield Town

Given Birmingham's strong start to the 2024-25 season, it is difficult to see Huddersfield picking up any points.

It would be surprising if the hosts managed to keep a clean sheet considering their defensive struggles, but they have been good from an offensive perspective and could score multiple goals.

Blackpool vs. Lincoln (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

In a top-of-the-table clash, fourth-placed Blackpool will host third-placed Lincoln City in League One on Tuesday at Bloomfield Road.

The home side have 14 points after eight games and have won their last four league fixtures, while the visitors have 14 points after seven games and beat Cambridge United 2-0 on Saturday in their most recent match.

We say: Blackpool 1-1 Lincoln City

Tuesday's clash will no doubt be fiercely contested, but it is difficult to see either side coming out on top given Blackpool's recent good form and Lincoln's strong away record.

Additionally, considering the hosts' improvement defensively under Bruce and the fact the visitors have kept four clean sheets in their last five league games, it would be surprising if the match was high scoring.

Bristol Rovers vs. Charlton (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Two teams will be looking for an upturn in form on Tuesday evening in League One, when Bristol Rovers host Charlton Athletic at the Memorial Stadium.

The hosts have lost four consecutive league games and the away side will be looking to avoid a fourth defeat in six when they travel west to Bristol on Tuesday.

We say: Bristol Rovers 1-1 Charlton Athletic

This is a tough game to predict as both sides are in need of giving their season a much-needed shot in the arm, but while Bristol Rovers are currently occupying the relegation places, Charlton's recent form and lack of clean sheets of late has to be of concern heading into Tuesday's game, so a share of the spoils could be on the cards.

Cambridge vs. Rotherham (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Winless Cambridge United will go in search of their first victory of the season on Tuesday evening when they welcome Rotherham United to Cledara Abbey Stadium in League One.

The visitors meanwhile have made a steady start to life in League One following on from their relegation last season, but staggeringly their last win on the road was all the way back in November 2022.

We say: Cambridge United 1-0 Rotherham United

A home side without a win since April are coming up against a side that are winless on the road since November 2022, so while a draw could be on the cards, there is an argument that something has to give for one of these sides on Tuesday.

If that is to be the case, we think this could be the day that Cambridge pick up that elusive win and get their season up and running.

Crawley vs. Mansfield (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Crawley Town welcome Mansfield Town to Broadfield Stadium in League One on Saturday, when the hosts will be looking to bounce back after defeat in Ben Gladwin's first game in interim charge.

The visitors meanwhile are on a run of three consecutive league victories and they could go level on points with Wrexham in second with another win on Tuesday evening.

We say: Crawley Town 1-2 Mansfield Town

Crawley did not make a great start to life without their previous manager Lindsey, and they were also very wasteful in front of goal in their defeat against Bolton.

Meanwhile for Mansfield, Clough has undoubtedly got his side believing they can compete at this level, and with the plethora of attacking options at his disposal, we think the Stags could take all three points on Tuesday and win their fourth league game in a row.

Leyton Orient vs. Exeter (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Leyton Orient welcome Exeter City to Brisbane Road in League One on Tuesday evening, when the hosts will be looking to extend their run of four games unbeaten after a shaky start to the season.

The visitors meanwhile sit in 13th, but they know that a win could see them climb as high as seventh if other results go their way and they do have a game in hand on a number of teams above them in the table.

We say: Leyton Orient 1-1 Exeter City

Leyton Orien's recent upturn in form has seen them climb out of the relegation zone in recent weeks, and while they are on a good mini run, they are now winless in their last six home games.

Exeter meanwhile have been solid defensively but it would be a tough ask for them to leave Brisbane Road with all three points, so a low-scoring draw looks to be on the cards here.

Northampton vs. Bolton (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Northampton Town will hope to quickly bounce back from defeat when they host Bolton Wanderers at Sixfields Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the visitors are heading into this game in fine form, as they look to make it three wins on the bounce in League One.

We say: Northampton Town 0-1 Bolton Wanderers

Northampton Town are struggling at present and have historically fared poorly in this fixture – this, coupled with Bolton's recent upturn in form, leads us to predict a victory for the visitors.

Shrewsbury vs. Stockport (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Struggling Shrewsbury Town will hope to end a four-match winless run in League One when they host Stockport County at Montgomery Waters Meadow on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the visitors, who have not won as the away team in this fixture since 1995, will be looking to break their own four-match winless streak.

We say: Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Stockport County

Shrewsbury Town's draw in their last game might have lifted their confidence a little, and this could prove helpful against a Stockport County side that have also been subpar in recent weeks, which is why we are predicting a draw.

Stevenage vs. Wrexham (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

One of the early League One title contenders, Wrexham, continue their domestic campaign on Tuesday when they make the journey up to Broadhall Way for a date with Stevenage.

Over the weekend, the Boro defeated Charlton Athletic 1-0, moving up to 11th in the table, well behind Wrexham, who dropped to second with a 0-0 draw at Leyton Orient.

We say: Stevenage 0-1 Wrexham

Early into the new campaign, Wrexham have proven they have a lot more attacking depth outside of Mullin, and we believe they will be able to overcome a stubborn Stevenage side who are not particularly dangerous going forward.

Wigan vs. Peterborough (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Seeking to snap their run of three consecutive stalemates, Wigan Athletic go head to head with Peterborough United in round nine of the League One on Tuesday.

The Posh, meanwhile, will journey to the Brick Community Stadium looking to get one over the hosts, having lost both home and away meetings between the two teams last season.

We say: Wigan Athletic 1-1 Peterborough United

While Wigan were guilty of a lack of cutting edge in front of goal against Exeter City at the weekend, they have now gone four consecutive games without defeat and will head into Tuesday's clash with confidence. However, the Latics have struggled for results at home this term and we fancy Peterborough to hold out for a share of the spoils.

Reading vs. Burton Albion (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

Reading manager Ruben Selles on August 20, 2024© Imago

A chance to pick up consecutive league wins for the first time this season awaits Reading when they welcome Burton Albion to the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Burton, on the other hand, still await their first league victory of the campaign and head into Tuesday's clash off the back of three straight defeats across all competitions.

We say: Reading 2-0 Burton Albion

Reading have some momentum courtesy of their last triumph and will back themselves to see off the threat of a struggling Burton side.

We fully expect the home side to collect maximum points in front of their fans for the second game running.
