Saturday's League One predictions including Ipswich vs. Sheffield Wednesday

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Ipswich vs. Sheffield Wednesday.

Barnsley vs. Cambridge (Saturday, 3.00pm)

The League One season continues this weekend as Barnsley welcome Cambridge United to Oakwell at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, in a game that has a huge bearing on the standings at both ends of the League One table.

The Tykes are sixth in the table on 47 points and are well placed for a tilt at the playoffs in 2022-23, or possibly more, depending on how their form goes.

Cambridge are in 23rd place, and are deep in the relegation mire ahead of the trip to Yorkshire on Saturday.

We say: Barnsley 2-1 Cambridge United

A game against promotion-chasing Barnsley at Oakwell will surely be too much for a struggling Cambridge side to cope with. Barnsley's clean sheet-shy defence will give United hope, but possibly not enough for them to get a result.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Burton Albion vs. Exeter (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Burton Albion will continue to try and push away from the League One relegation zone on Saturday when they host 11th-placed Exeter City.

Despite their current league position, the hosts have won consecutive matches heading into this game, with another one potentially pushing them as high as 17th.

We say: Burton Albion X-Y Exeter City

Charlton vs. Fleetwood (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Fresh from booking their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup, Fleetwood Town return to League One action with a trip to Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing the playoff places by 10 points, Charlton find themselves eight points clear of Fleetwood in the League One table, with the Fishermen sitting just two points outside the relegation zone.

We say: Charlton Athletic 3-1 Fleetwood Town

Fleetwood will be brimming with belief after reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup, but Charlton are also full of confidence at the moment, having turned their campaign around under Holden.

While the Addicks have won four of their last five league games, the Fishermen have lost six of their previous seven, so we expect the hosts to claim all three points on Saturday.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Cheltenham vs. Accrington (Saturday, 3.00pm)

The League One season reaches matchday 31 on Saturday afternoon, as Cheltenham Town welcome Accrington Stanley to the Johnny-Rocks Stadium at 3pm in a basement battle at the foot of the table.

Eighteenth-placed Cheltenham are three points and four places above their visitors, with both sides needing the points in order to aid their respective battles against relegation to League Two.

We say: Cheltenham Town 2-0 Accrington Stanley

History in this fixture is on the side of Accrington, with Stanley having won three and drawn two of the last six meetings between the sides.

A repeat of April 2022's barmy 4-4 draw at the Wham Stadium would be just fine for the neutrals, but home advantage may see Cheltenham claim a crucial win.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Ipswich vs. Sheff Weds (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna on February 7, 2023© Reuters

A crucial match in the fight at the top end of the League One table will take place at Portman Road on Saturday, as Ipswich Town entertain league leaders Sheffield Wednesday.

The visitors leapfrogged Plymouth Argyle with a victory in their top-of-the-table clash last weekend at Hillsborough, while the gap between the hosts and the top two was stretched to six points after they only drew with Cambridge United in their last league outing.

We say: Ipswich Town 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday

While Ipswich have home advantage and are in desperate need of a result to avoid falling away from the top-two fight, they are lacking form while the Owls are full of confidence and momentum, and we see the leaders triumphing at Portman Road as a result.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Lincoln vs. Bristol Rovers (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Lincoln City's Charles Vernam applauds fans after the match on December 20, 2022© Reuters

Lincoln City will host Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon in a mid-table clash at Sincil Bank.

The hosts come into this fixture in a spell of positive form after a convincing 3-0 victory against Accrington Stanley in their previous match while Bristol Rovers head into this affair in opposing form to Lincoln having just been defeated by MK Dons 2-0 in their last match.

We say: Lincoln City 2-2 Bristol Rovers

We believe that Lincoln's home run without a win will continue in this game, but also that their run without losing will extend to five matches.

Bristol Rovers' ability to score and leak goals makes this game exciting to watch and can make them unpredictable, but we think that this game will end a point a piece for each side in a high-scoring 2-2 draw.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

MK Dons vs. Oxford Utd (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Milton Keynes Dons' (MK Dons) Warren O'Hora celebrates scoring their first goal with teammates on November 8, 2022© Reuters

On Saturday afternoon MK Dons will be looking to secure back-to-back wins for the first time in the league this season against Oxford United at Stadium MK.

MK Dons continued to keep themselves from the relegation spaces in their most recent outing when they beat Bristol Rovers away 2-0, while Oxford United come into this affair having suffered a 1-0 defeat against Shrewsbury Town.

We say: MK Dons 0-2 Oxford United

We believe that Oxford will put an end to the poor form that they have suffered as of late and will find a more clinical edge to their performance as they have not suffered from a lack of ability to create goalscoring situations.

MK Dons will set up well, however, a lack of ability to highly threaten Oxford's goal could leave them unstuck in this contest and therefore we think that this contest will end 2-0 in the away side's favour.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Morecambe vs. Forest Green (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Forest Green Rovers' Ben Stevenson celebrates scoring their first goal with teammates on January 17, 2023© Reuters

Morecambe welcome Forest Green Rovers in a mid-season League One relegation six-pointer at the Mazuma Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Derek Adams's side are in the relegation zone, while The Green languish three positions below their upcoming hosts at the foot of the table.

We say: Morecambe 3-1 Forest Green Rovers

Undefeated in their last six matches at the Mazuma Stadium, dating back to October 8, we predict that Morecambe will inflict more relegation turmoil on Forest Green Rovers come 5pm on Saturday.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Peterborough vs. Bolton (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson on February 19, 2022© Reuters

On Saturday at Weston Homes Stadium, Peterborough United can best their longest winning run of the current League One campaign when they host Bolton Wanderers.

Both sides have won three consecutive domestic encounters, with the Posh just three points behind a promotional playoff berth in seventh, while the Trotters are two places above them in the table and eight points behind a guaranteed place in the Championship next season.

We say: Peterborough United 1-0 Bolton Wanderers

While Bolton have been among the most consistent sides in League One this season, they seem to be missing the presence of a solid number nine, and they have not been quite as sharp away from home throughout the campaign.

Peterborough, on the other hand, seem to play their best at home and have shown plenty of patience and poise defensively since Ferguson rejoined them, plus they have a dependable striker in Clarke-Harris, who has been in sparkling form all season.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Plymouth vs. Portsmouth (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher celebrates after the match on January 8, 2022© Reuters

After a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday knocked them off the top of the League One table, Plymouth Argyle will look to return to winning ways when they welcome Portsmouth to Home Park on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, currently sit in and with nine points separating them from the top six, they have their work cut out if they are to mount a serious playoff charge.

We say: Plymouth Argyle 2-1 Portsmouth

Plymouth have been in impressive form at Home Park this season, and after winning 13 of their 14 home league games, we think they will edge out Portsmouth to claim a narrow victory on Saturday,

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Shrewsbury vs. Port Vale (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Shrewsbury Town's manager Steve Cotterill on January 15, 2022© Reuters

Shrewsbury Town will attempt to claim a fifth consecutive victory when they welcome Port Vale to New Meadow for a League One contest on Saturday.

In contrast, the visitors are experiencing a poor spell of form after failing to win any of their last five matches.

We say: Shrewsbury Town 2-0 Port Vale

Shrewsbury are currently enjoying an impressive run of form after recording five straight victories, and we think they will continue to build momentum with a home victory over a Port Vale side who are winless in five league games.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Wycombe vs. Derby (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Derby County manager Paul Warne after the match on January 8, 2023© Reuters

Derby County will be looking to claim a seventh consecutive victory in League One when they travel to Adams Park to face Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The hosts, meanwhile, have the chance to record a third straight win after beating Oxford United and Port Vale in their last two matches.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 Derby County

Although Wycombe have won four of their last five home games, we think they will be beaten by a Derby side in red-hot form after recording six consecutive victories in League One.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.
