How Atletico Madrid could line up against Mallorca

Sports Mole looks at how Atletico Madrid could line up for Tuesday's La Liga clash with Mallorca at the Iberostar Stadium.

Diego Simeone faces a tough task to revitalise and regenerate the core of an Atletico Madrid side that has had so much success in the past.

The summer finally saw Antoine Griezmann's protracted departure to Barcelona take place - with Portuguese starlet Joao Felix arriving from Benfica to replace him.

Results have been mixed so far this season, though, and in matches against Getafe, Leganes, Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo the attack has looked stodgy.

The islanders of Mallorca have finally made their long-awaited return to La Liga this season - but their attack has also looked impotent in recent matches with Valencia and Bilbao. Last time out their attack was working well, but they conspired to concede four in a 4-2 defeat at Getafe.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Atletico could line up for Wednesday's match.

Possible ATM XI vs. MAL

Out: Sime Vrsaljko (knee), Thomas Lemar (hamstring)

Diego Simeone remains without Sime Vrsaljko, meaning that summer signing Kieran Trippier will continue at right-back.

Stefan Savic could return alongside Jose Gimenez at the heart of the defence.

Simeone is likely to persist with the same midfield four - but could turn to Alvaro Morata upfront in the place of Angel Correa.

Joao Felix can provide the pace and trickery on the left flank, and with Trippier playing on the right, Morata's heading ability could be useful for the barrage of crosses that are likely to come his way from the right boot of the Englishman.
