Arsene Wenger urges Bacary Sagna to stay at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger says that Bacary Sagna's future should be with Arsenal, with the defender out of contract in the summer.

Arsene Wenger has told Bacary Sagna that he should stay at Arsenal, despite reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Galatasaray.

The right-back is out of contract at the end of the season and has so far failed to agree an extension.

Talks have taken place, but reports have claimed that Sagna wants a three-year extension, while the Gunners have offered just a two-year deal.

"When I say I expect [Sagna to stay], it is more that I want it. I hope that, in the end, I am right. We are not close at the moment," Wenger told Sky Sports News.

"Because he is a defender, we are ready to give him more than one year. I believe that his future is here and any other decision would be wrong.

"He is fantastic, not only a great player, but a fantastic attitude."

Sagna joined the club from Auxerre in 2007.
