Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including Marseille vs. PSG

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Marseille vs. PSG.

Lorient vs. Auxerre (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Lorient welcome Auxerre to the Stade du Moustoir in the latest round of Ligue 1 fixtures on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts are in seventh place, still within reach of the European qualification places, while the visitors are in 18th and could move out of the relegation zone with a victory.

We say: Lorient 3-0 Auxerre

Lorient put in a much-improved performance against Ajaccio last weekend, a team that are on the same points tally as Auxerre, and so they should have no trouble sweeping their opponents aside on Sunday.

The White and Blues proved they have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with some of the better sides in the division in their last match, defeating Lyon, but their away record is very poor, and Lorient have been very impressive on home soil.

Ajaccio vs. Troyes (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Ajaccio take on Troyes at the Stade Francois Coty on Sunday afternoon, in a match between two teams battling to avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

The hosts are 19th in the table, two points from safety, while the visitors commence proceedings up in 17th, having picked up one more point than their opponents.

We say: Ajaccio 1-0 Troyes

Both sides have looked very poor in recent weeks, but we expect Ajaccio to do just enough to secure all three points, in what is a real relegation six-pointer.

The hosts were by far the better team in the meeting earlier this season, and while they have struggled of late, they have managed to perform against teams around them, defeating Angers 2-1 at the beginning of February.

Clermont vs. Strasbourg (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Clermont will be looking to earn their first win of the month when they host Strasbourg at Stade Gabriel Montpied on Sunday afternoon in Ligue 1.

The hosts lost away at Rennes in their last outing, whereas Strasbourg were victorious at home to struggling side Angers - a game they would have expected to win.

We say: Clermont 1-1 Strasbourg

Clermont look set to avoid a relegation battle this year but need to improve on their recent results in order to achieve a top-half finish this season.

Strasbourg have a slender advantage over the bottom four but have impressed over recents weeks, and we believe they will earn a point on their travels this Sunday.

Nantes vs. Rennes (Sunday, 2.00pm)

After suffering back-to-back losses, Nantes will be keen to get themselves back to winning ways when they welcome Rennes to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides were knocked out of the Europa League in their most recent outings, with Les Canaris enduring a 3-0 defeat in their midweek clash with Juventus, while the away side brutally exited the competition in a penalty shootout against Shakhtar Donetsk.

We say: Nantes 1-1 Rennes

We believe that this match will end in a stalemate between the two sides due to Rennes' inability to obtain results away from home.

We think that Nantes will be defensively resolute to frustrate their opponents in offensive areas and will get opportunities to hurt them on the break.

Reims vs. Toulouse (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Reims manager William Still pictured in October 2022© Reuters

Two of Ligue 1's fast-improving sides face off at Stade Auguste-Delaune II on Sunday as 10th-placed Reims take on 11th-placed Toulouse.

While just one point separates the teams in the middle of the Ligue 1 table, both have been in good form since the World Cup break and have their sights fixed firmly on continuing to climb the table.

We say: Reims 1-0 Toulouse

With Folarin Balogun in such red-hot form, Reims will feel confident going into any game at the moment. The 21-year-old striker may well be the difference between two evenly-matched teams, so we are backing the hosts to gain revenge for their cup exit earlier this month.

Monaco vs. Nice (Sunday, 4.05pm)

Nice have a chance to hand their arch-rivals Monaco their first defeat in Ligue 1 this year when they travel to Stade Louis II to face them on Sunday in the final Derby de la Cote d'Azur this season.

Under caretaker boss Didier Digard, Les Aiglons are unbeaten in seven consecutive domestic affairs, drawing Reims 0-0 last weekend, while Les Monegasques have points in nine straight league fixtures after edging Brest 2-1 last Sunday.

We say: Monaco 1-1 Nice

The Monaco attack should prove to be a stiff test for the Nice backline on Sunday, but Les Aiglons have the good fortune of playing a side that might be a little tired and emotionally drained this weekend, and given the fine form each side are in domestically, a stalemate seems like a distinct possibility.

Marseille vs. PSG (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Le Classique rivals prepare for battle with much more than just bragging rights on the line, as Marseille welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Orange Velodrome for Sunday's headline act in Ligue 1.

The two bitter rivals occupy first and second place in the top-flight rankings ahead of this weekend's finale, where Igor Tudor's men could move to within just two points of the champions.

We say: Marseille 2-1 Paris Saint-Germain

Had Neymar been available for this encounter, PSG would have felt confident of coming away from hostile territory with at least a point, but the Brazilian's absence coupled with ongoing concerns over Hakimi's fitness means that another miserable away day could be on the cards for Les Parisiens.

Galtier cannot solve the champions' defensive shortcomings overnight, and while Marseille have been far from perfect on their own patch, Tudor's team have a taste for goals and could post a carbon copy of their Coupe de France win over PSG to blow the title race wide open.
