Valencia will have a two-goal advantage for the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie with Osasuna.

Valencia take a 2-0 lead into the second leg of their Copa del Rey fifth-round tie against Osasuna.

There were few chances for either side in the opening half, with Osasuna seeing more of the ball in the first 45 but Valencia looking the more likely to score.

The away side struck early in the second half, Daniel Parejo breaking the deadlock by curling a free kick into the top corner of the net.

Osasuna had a few half-chances throughout the second period, but Valencia continued to look the more threatening.

The visitors could have doubled their advantage inside the last 10 minutes when Asier Riesgo made a poor clearance, setting up Roberto Soldado for a strike, but the ball was cleared by Osansuna.

The home side kept possession well in the closing minutes at they looked for an equaliser, but were unable to create a chance that really troubled the Valencia goal.

Saldado punished Osasuna for not taking their chances, firing home an effort from close range to leave the hosts with a mountain to climb when they play the second leg next Tuesday.
