Manchester City confirm that midfielder Maximo Perrone has joined La Liga side Las Palmas on a season-long loan deal.

Manchester City have confirmed that midfielder Maximo Perrone has joined Spanish side Las Palmas on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old joined the Citizens from Argentine outfit Velez Sarsfield in January, where he made a total of 33 senior appearances including his debut in March 2022.

Perrone only made two first-team substitute outings under Pep Guardiola last season as Man City went on to win a historic Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble.

The Argentina Under-20 international made his City debut in the 4-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth in February, before making a second substitute appearance just three days later in a 3-0 win against Bristol City in the FA Cup fifth round.

Perrone has watched on as an unused substitute in two of City's opening three competitive matches of the new season against Sevilla and Newcastle United, and the midfielder has now decided to temporarily depart the Etihad Stadium in search of regular first-team football.

Perrone will spend the 2023-24 campaign with Las Palmas, who are competing in La Liga for the first time in six years after securing promotion from the Spanish Segunda Division last season courtesy of a second-placed finish.

The midfielder could be in a position to make his Las Palmas debut when they play host to Real Sociedad on Friday.

Perrone's loan exit comes at a time when Man City are in the market for a new midfielder, with Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Nunes recently emerging as potential targets after walking away from negotiations to sign West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta.
