Steven Pienaar could have torn his groin against Athletic Bilbao.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that Steven Pienaar could have torn his groin in their 2-1 friendly victory over Athletic Bilbao yesterday.

Although Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe were both on target in the win, the boss had negative news to deliver in the post-match press conference.

"Steven Pienaar picked up an injury today,” Redknapp said.

"He might have torn his groin. I think we're going to take him to a specialist and have a look at him. We'll see how it goes."

Spurs begin their Premier League campaign this Saturday when Everton visit White Hart Lane.
