Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has praised his players for achieving the "impossible" after the nation won its third consecutive major championship.
An emphatic 4-0 win over Italy in tonight's Euro 2012 final added to Spain's triumphs at Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010.
"To win three titles is almost impossible. Congratulations to the players," said Del Bosque.
"I didn't really want to be the coach who wins but the coach who educates. I want to keep preparing them for the future."
Spain have now also equalled the record of three European championship wins set by Germany in 1996.
