Following their Euro 2012 triumph, former England captain Alan Shearer hails the current Spanish national team as the best side of all time.

Former England captain Alan Shearer has hailed the current Spain national team as the best side of all time.

Vicente del Bosque's men were crowned Euro 2012 champions earlier this evening following a comprehensive 4-0 win over Italy in Kiev.

Working as a pundit on the BBC's Match of the Day broadcast, Shearer said: "This team is the best ever.

"We mention the Brazil sides with Pele but this is absolutely unbelievable what they have achieved."

Spain, who are also the reigning world champions, are the first nation to have ever won back-to-back European championships.
