Report: Queens Park Rangers target Newcastle United's Steven Taylor

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is expected to make a second attempt to sign Newcastle United's Steven Taylor and reportedly hopes to sign the defender on loan in January.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp wants to boost his side's promotion chances with the loan signing of Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor.

Rangers tried to sign the 27-year-old centre-back as part of the season-long deal that took Loic Remy to St James' Park from the Hoops in the summer.

The Magpies were not willing to let him go at that stage, but The Mirror reports that Redknapp is hoping that they will reconsider in January considering Taylor's recent lack of first-team football.

The former England Under-21 international was sent off in his only Premier League appearance this term, Newcastle's 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City on the opening day of the season.

Since recovering from injury over a month ago, Taylor has failed to feature for Alan Pardew's side, and Championship leaders QPR reportedly want to loan him for the second half of the campaign.

Taylor's agent has recently admitted that his client may be forced to leave Tyneside when the transfer window reopens, if he does not return to his position as a regular starter.
