Jonjo Shelvey: 'I can't wait to get started at Newcastle United'

Jonjo Shelvey admits that he "can't wait to get started" following his £12m move to Newcastle United from Swansea City.

Jonjo Shelvey has admitted that he "can't wait" to get his Newcastle United career started following his switch to St James' Park from Swansea City.

The midfielder, who spent three years at the Liberty Stadium, completed a £12m move to Newcastle on Tuesday.

"I can't wait to get started," Shelvey told Newcastle's TV channel. "It was great to be at Swansea, it's a great club, but I just felt as soon as there was interest from Newcastle and they expressed how much they wanted me it was the right time for a new challenge.

"I am just excited to be here. Just walking around the stadium gives you goosepimples. It is an immense feeling to come here."

The Magpies are currently third from bottom in the Premier League table, one point from safety.
