Champions League-chasing Newcastle United are being held 0-0 by Bolton Wanderers after the first 45 minutes at the Sports Direct Arena.

Newcastle United's quest for Champions League football has stuttered during the opening 45 minutes of their home fixture against Bolton Wanderers this afternoon.

Despite dominating large parts of the half, the Magpies were unable to force visiting goalkeeper Adam Bogdan into any real action.

It took until the 30th minute for the first shot on target to be recorded when Bolton's Martin Petrov drove straight at Tim Krul.

Up the other end, a punch out from Bogdan struck teammate Sam Ricketts in the face before bouncing to safety.

A win for Newcastle would lift them up to fifth in the Premier League table.
