Manchester United are reportedly planning to sell Anthony Martial this summer and use the money to fund the purchase of Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.

Manchester United have reportedly drawn up plans to sell Anthony Martial this summer and use the money to fund the purchase of Real Madrid's Gareth Bale.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 times and registered 10 assists in 40 Red Devils appearances this season, but has struggled to hold down a starting spot in Jose Mourinho's Premier League squad.

Indeed, Martial's future at Old Trafford was thrown into doubt when his agent would not confirm whether the player was to stay at the club past the end of the season.

Bale, meanwhile, continues to be the subject of transfer speculation, with reports suggesting that the Welshman is deemed too injury-prone to continue at the Bernabeu.

According to The Mirror, Mourinho has lost patience with Martial due to his languid style and failure to consistently deliver, and has told his bosses to recoup what they paid for him to fund a deal for Bale.

The report states that the 28-year-old is valued in the region of £88m, but would command wages of £600,000 per week as per his Blancos contract, which would make him the highest-paid Premier League player.

Alexis Sanchez is believed to hold that honour at present following his move from Arsenal to Man United in January on a reported £500,000-a-week salary.
