Manchester United reportedly activate one-year extension options in the contracts of Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Fred.

Manchester United have reportedly triggered one-year extension options in the contracts of Marcus Rashford, Fred, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot.

All four players are due to become free agents at the end of the season and would be able to open talks with foreign clubs over pre-contract agreements in January.

The quartet have all been regulars under Erik ten Hag since the Dutchman's arrival, though, and Fabrizio Romano claims that the club have now activated their extensions.

As a result, Rashford, Dalot, Shaw and Fred are all tied down to the Red Devils until the summer of 2024, while Dalot and Rashford are said to be in line for longer deals.

However, the futures of Shaw and Fred beyond the end of the 2023-24 season are more uncertain, with the latter potentially being allowed to depart as Man United search for a new central midfielder.

Rashford endured a challenging 2021-22 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, but he has reignited his Old Trafford career with eight goals and three assists from 19 games this term.

The England international also scored three goals at the 2022 World Cup, and Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be keeping an eye on any developments surrounding his future.

It had been claimed that Rashford could become Man United's highest earner with a £400,000-a-week deal if he committed his long-term future to the Red Devils, but the striker hit out at the 'made-up' reports earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Portugal international Dalot has ousted Aaron Wan-Bissaka to become Man United's first-choice right-back, and he has one goal and two assists under his belt from 20 matches this season.

Dalot, who started three games for Portugal at the World Cup, spent time on loan at AC Milan before making a name for himself at Man United, and he is understood to be a target for Barcelona.

Left-back Shaw has faced competition from Tyrell Malacia for a place in the starting lineup this season, and he briefly lost his place in the team to the Dutchman before coming back into the fray.

Shaw has set up two goals in 15 matches this season, starting each of his side's last seven Premier League games and all five of England's World Cup contests, providing one assist.

In contrast, Brazilian midfielder Fred has found it difficult to displace Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay this season, starting just four games in the Premier League and a further two in the Europa League.

The 29-year-old has scored one goal this season against Tottenham Hotspur, and he made four appearances for Brazil at the World Cup - two of them from the opening whistle.

Romano adds that Man United are also in discussions with David de Gea over his future, but it has been suggested that Ten Hag could allow the Spaniard to leave as he looks to bring in a new number one goalkeeper.
