Cristiano Ronaldo to play in Wayne Rooney testimonial at Old Trafford?

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly agrees to play in a testimonial for former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford in August.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed to play in Wayne Rooney's testimonial match at Old Trafford next year.

The Manchester United captain was granted the game by the club after supporters wrote in asking the United hierarchy to recognise Rooney's contribution over an 11-year spell.

According to the Daily Star, Rooney recently phoned his former teammate Ronaldo, who has confirmed to the striker that he will play in the charity match seven years after leaving Old Trafford.

Ronaldo spent six years of his career at United before joining Madrid for a then-world record fee of £80m in 2009.

The testimonial will be held on August 3.
