Roberto Carlos: 'Neymar best in the world'

Barcelona's Neymar is the best player in the world ahead of teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, according to former Brazil defender Roberto Carlos.

Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos has claimed that Barcelona forward Neymar is currently the best player in the world ahead of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi and Ronaldo are widely considered as the top two players in the modern game and indeed two of the best of all time.

However, Carlos, who currently manages Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos, has claimed that his fellow Brazilian is now above those two in the pecking order.

"When I am asked about Messi and Cristiano I say that Neymar is the best for me," he told Globoesporte.

"It is not just for his goals, but for the ease with which he plays and the confidence he has. Neymar is going to have a Ballon d'Or in one or two years because he is going to deserve it."

Neymar has scored 62 times in 101 games for Barcelona and has also netted 46 goals in 67 caps for his South American country.
